Daphne Selfe |
People Magazine did a recent feature story on "the world's oldest supermodel," Daphne Selfe, who is still walking the fashion runways at the age of 83. Selfe began her modeling career in the 1950s in the U.K. after winning a local newspaper's modeling competition.
Selfe says that she has never had any cosmetic surgery or Botox and credits her youthful appearance to good genes, creams from the Boots line (the British brand can be purchased at Target or other retail stores or online), and an optimistic, cheerful spirit.
About the aging process, Selfe says, “It’s going to happen, so why worry?” She continues, “I try to remain cheerful, not grumpy.” For example, “I’ve developed glaucoma, but the drops I have to put in my eyes have made my lashes grow! So there is always a plus side.” (Actually the number-one product for lash enhancement was formulated through glaucoma research and utilizes similar ingredients!)
Selfe is a great example of seeing the upside to aging and embracing the moment and who we are.
