The Anorak is Back!

It's back!  The versatile anorak has returned.  A huge trend in the 80's, it seems that this style of jacket remains popular because it is right for anyone, regardless of size or age. Anoraks are, above all, very figure flattering, with their nipped-in waist and mid-thigh or cropped lengths. Anoraks are comfortable and easy to pair with many different styles of clothing.

Anoraks were seen on the Spring 2012 Fashion Runway from designers such as Rag and Bone, Jason Wu, Michael Kors and others, this time around in vibrant colors and new details. Here, a model walks the runway for Rebecca Taylor Spring 2012 wearing a jacket over a flirty dress:

Isabel Gonzalez, senior editor for InStyle Magazine recently discussed anoraks during a TV interview, mentioning the utilitarian features (i.e., lots of pockets) and the overall slimming effect. A model showed off a Vera Wang nylon anorak which retails for $78 (now sold out on Kohl's web site).  The model wore the anorak with a floral dress and the jacket glided over the silhouette for a very slimming appearance.

The model also wore a cropped sleeve anorak which was a great indoor look; this one is from Forever 21 and retails for $32.80.

Cropped anoraks are great for petites. Look for ones in bold colors; Joe Fresh has an amazing anorak which retails for $49. Pair with a neutral or print top and go for lots of color in your accessories!
