Star Style: Kate Moss and Lila Grace / Sadie Frost and Iris Law

Kate Moss and Daughter Lila Grace in Vogue
Lila Grace, the nine-year-old daughter of iconic supermodel Kate Moss, could be ready to take to the catwalk in the near future, and she may be joined by another young celebrity daughter.
According to People Magazine, the rumor that Lila is an aspiring model was fueled by Moss's goddaughter, Iris Law (the daughter of actor Jude Law and his ex, Sadie Frost), by way of an essay Iris wrote for U.K.'s aMUSE Magazine.

Iris Law, age 11, said of her god-sister, Lila, that the two enjoy creating photo shoots of one another whenever they are together.  Law's take on modeling is, "I enjoy this. It's everything I love in one go:  it's creative, it makes you think . . it's fashion".

Lila did already appear in one very special photo shoot- her mother Kate's July 2011 wedding to Jamie Hince. Lila was a bridesmaid for the event, which was photographed for and featured in US Vogue.

Susan Says: Beachy Keen

The humidity was wreaking havoc on my hair, compounded by the fact that I am overdue for a hair shaping session.  I decided that it was time to splurge and try a texturizing sea spray.

My daughter had purchased Awapuhl Texturizing Sea Spray (for beach waves, volume and body) but the store did not carry that brand.  So I purchased Fekkai Summer Hair Beach Waves Spray which can be sprayed on damp or dry hair for a tousled beachy style (anytime, anywhere)!

Fekkai Summer Hair Beach Waves Spray $25 @ Bergdorf Goodman
The retail price is $25 for five ounces but you only use a spritz or two at a time so it should be very long lasting (should contain enough product to get through the humid months).  I think the product helped to give my limp hair a lift and had a thickening effect.

A similar product is A Beautiful Life Pre Game Texturizing Spray which retails for $22.

A Beautiful Life Pre-Game Texturizing Spray $22
Lucky Magazine is currently doing a promotion where you can save 30 percent on this product, which brings the price down to $15.40.  Order at abeautifullife.com and enter "lucky9" at checkout.

Lucky has some savings on other hot beach beauty items, too.  Sunscreen is the most important beach accessory and zinc sunscreen is being touted by dermatologists as the best.

Sun Bum SPF 50+ Clear Zinc Oxide $8.99

Sun Bum makes an ultra-waterproof, sweat-proof, fast-absorbing SPF 50+ formula that is PABA free, alcohol-free, cruelty-free, and which observes quickly and rubs in clear. It contains soothing aloe and has a very rich summery coconut scent. Order at trustthebum.com and enter "lucky 6" at checkout to save 40% (regularly $9; Lucky Breaks Price $5.40.)

And when the sun sets on your day at the beach, keep your swimsuit in mint condition by using Roux Maison Swimwear Laundry Detergent.   It removes salt, chlorine and sunscreen without damaging your swimsuit.

Roux Maison Swimwear Laundry Detergent Set of 3 Bottles $14.50

Order at rouxmaison.com and enter "lucky4" at checkout to save 40%, and the price comes to $9.00 for a set of three (the one fluid ounce size is great to take for carry on your next plane trip for a beach getaway!).

Going Nuts for Coconut Oil

Barlean's Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil $15.99 @ drugstore.com

Coconut oil is a must-have for health and beauty. This curative oil has a myriad of uses, both as a healthy ingredient in recipes, and as a topical moisturizer with amazing healing abilities.
Extra-virgin coconut oil contains lauric acid which boosts immunity and fights infection. Anyone with a skin condition such as ezcema can use coconut oil as a moisturizer for soothing relief and prevention of bacterial infection due to broken skin.

Coconut oil can also replace some of your usual beauty products; for instance, you can use the oil instead of eye makeup remover and even eye cream. To remove eye makeup, put a dab of coconut oil on a cotton pad and sweep over lids. In a recent study, under-eye skin showed improvement in fine lines and wrinkles by 42 percent in eight weeks.

You can also use coconut oil instead of your usual acne treatment. It may sound counter-intuitive to put oil onto a breakout, but you can ease blemishes by rubbing a dab of conocut oil into skin until it is absorbed.  The lauric acid is 15 times more effective than benzoyl peroxide at killing breakout-causing bacteria and will not clog pores.

Of course, you can also cook with coconut oil, which has a wonderful aroma and delicious distinctive taste. And amazingly, using coconut oil to saute foods will also help you slim down.  Replace butter or vegetable oil with an equal amount of coconut oil; although the caloric value is the same as olive oil, the switch to medium-chain fatty acids revs up metabolism by 50 percent. When baking, swap out butter for coconut oil for a treat that is much healthier and equally fluffy (and vegan!).

For a quick, easy way to try cooking with coconut oil, check out this recipe for coconut roasted sweet potatoes on Whole Food's web site.

You can buy organic, extra-virgin coconut oil at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's or any health food store, or even online at outlets like Drugstore.com.

Figure-Flattering Leggings from Trainer to the Stars

Tracy Anderson and Gwyneth Paltrow appeared together on Oprah

Fitness guru Tracy Anderson has created a capsule collection of body-type-specific exercise clothing at Edition01. Anderson partnered with one of her famous clients, Gwyneth Paltrow, who told this month's InStyle Magazine, "These leggings minimize each woman's problem areas and are stylish and comfortable."

Anderson says she believes that we tend to perform better when we look in the mirror and like what we see. She had had a history of custom-cutting pants for her celebrity clientele and that is how the idea for the line emerged.

Anderson's renowned work-out program, which was recently profiled in The New York Times, divides women by body type and tailors the exercise program accordingly, with the routine changing every 10 days to keep the body challenged.
Similarly, the leggings, which are available online, are also designed for specific body-types. Selections include the Glutecentric (instant butt lift), the Omnicentric (all-over control), the Abcentric (waist slimming) and the Hipcentric (thigh-thinning).

If you need help selecting the right style to flatter your body, Anderson's web site has a feature called a "Body Type Calculator" that allows you to figure out your specific body type.

Metallic Manicures for Any Age

The other day, we noticed that we were both wearing shades of gold nail polish, proving that gilded nails are a great look for any age. Metallic gold nail polish is trendy yet still sophisticated and even subtle, not over the top.

Susan was wearing Deborah Lippmann's  Glamorous Life, which is a metallic rose gold:

Dana was wearing Chanel's Delight, which is a true gold with a perfect amount of sparkle:

Dana's also coveting Butter's polish in The Old Bill, which is very similar to the Chanel hue, but just a bit more bronze, resembling a sparkly copper penny.

Butter London's The Old Bill $14

Another shade to try is Essie's Shifting Power, which is a bit more subdued and less metallic, creating a more subtle effect. It's sold out on Essie's web site, but you can probably still find it at a local retailer.
